Sculptra Aesthetic

Due to heredity, sun exposure and the normal aging process, collagen is gradually lost from the skin. The result is thinning skin that becomes lax and the appearance of facial creases. In addition, fat loss from areas such as the cheeks, temples, and around the mouth adds to the formation of lines and creates and an aged “hollow” appearance. Correcting this volume loss is integral to Dr. Daines’ surgical approach to facial rejuvenation and an essential component of his non-surgical enhancement philosophy called Rejuvenation Lite.
Sculptra is an injectable product that corrects facial volume loss, erasing the signs of aging in the process. Composed of micro-particles of poly-L-lactic acid, Sculptra creates a framework that stimulates the body to produce its own collagen. Following treatment, facial volume is gradually restored resulting in tighter, smoother skin and a more youthful appearance.

Choosing a Surgeon for Your Sculptra Injections

During his fellowship in New York, Dr. Daines was involved in studying the role of Sculptra in restoring volume to the midface (upper cheek area) in an FDA-approved study. His findings were later published in the esteemed medical journal JAMA Facial Plastic Surgery. Dr. Daines takes advantage of his expertise with Sculptra to deliver maximum results to his patients who wish to avoid or delay surgery, but still desire a sustained improvement in their appearance. Dr. Daines is also an expert in using other volumizing alternatives to target a patient’s specific concerns and desired results such as Juvederm, Radiesse, and fat transfer. Each of these products differs in terms of its composition, longevity, and cosmetic indications. During your consultation with Dr. Daines, he will assess where your face shows signs of volume loss and help you choose a volume-restoring regimen that meets your aesthetic goals.

Sculptra is one of the newest additions to the injectable treatment line, offering natural and long-lasting results. To learn more about the benefits of Sculptra, contact Daines Plastic Surgery at 949-397-6499.

*Board Certified Facial Plastic Surgeon Dr. Steven M Daines has written information about Sculptra that has been carefully reviewed. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us using our form.

He's double board certified which is a huge plus for me and he does all the injections himself not a PA or a nurse in the office. I will never let another doctor touch my face. I have to drive over an hour each direction but since I want perfection it is well worth it! Now when I go to the makeup counters I get all kinds of compliments about how young I look and these are from much younger women. Thank you Dr. Daines. — Susan C.

Procedure Details

Sculptra is injected just below the skin’s surface using a very fine needle. A local anesthetic is used to ensure comfort during the procedure. The Sculptra solution is strategically distributed throughout the treatment area so that results appear gradually and look natural.

There is no downtime after Sculptra injections, which means you can return to your daily activities as soon as the procedure is over. Some patients may experience mild swelling or bruising around the injection sites, which will subside within a matter of days. Visible improvement may become evident around six weeks after treatment and will continue to improve for up to 12 months. Most patients can go up to two years before requiring a touch-up procedure. Treatment plans will vary depending on each individual’s unique needs, but typically a series of three or more treatments at 6-8 week intervals are recommended to achieve an optimal result.
