Juvederm and Juvederm Voluma

What is Juvederm?

Juvederm is an injectable filler with hyaluronic acid as its base. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally-occurring substance found in the skin and joints. It is responsible for retaining moisture and gives the skin a smooth, supple appearance. Levels of hyaluronic acid decline with age. By restoring those levels with an injectable treatment like Juvederm, we can effectively smooth away wrinkles, create youthful volume in the face and address other minor imperfections.

Juvederm injections typically last 6-12 months. Juvederm is primarily used to address the following signs of aging:

  • Lines that extend from the nose to the mouth (nasolabial folds)
  • Small vertical creases in the outer corners of the mouth (smile lines)
  • Creases running from the mouth to the jawline (marionette lines)
  • Small vertical lines above the lip (smoker’s or lipstick lines)

Juvederm Voluma, a newer formulation in the Juvederm family, is a thicker, smoother substance that can also be used to restore youthful volume to areas like the cheeks and jawline. This formulation offers visible results that can last 1-2 years before a touch-up procedure is required.

Juvederm is one of the most requested dermal fillers today, thanks to its versatility and excellent results. To learn more about this injectable treatment, contact Daines Plastic Surgery at 949-397-6499.
