Radiesse

What is Radiesse?

Radiesse is a filler made from calcium hydroxylapatite, a natural substance found in human bone. The Radiesse formulation adds volume, while serving as a type of scaffold to support and stimulate additional collagen formation. Radiesse is used to soften deeper creases and correct more advanced volume loss. It can be used as part of a layering strategy that involves more than one filling agent to achieve an enhanced result. Radiesse can last anywhere from 12-24 months and should be repeated before the product completely dissolves to enhance longevity.

Radiesse may be recommended for these prominent signs of aging:

  • Deep smile lines (vertical lines that appear in the corners of the mouth)
  • Extensive marionette lines (creases extending from the mouth to the chin)
  • Advanced nasolabial folds (lines running from the nose to the mouth)

Radiesse is also commonly recommended for restoration of volume around the jawline, chin and cheeks. The formulation can also be used successfully to correct facial asymmetries or temporarily augment features like the nose or chin.

Radiesse is yet another tool in the anti-aging arsenal, with the ability to turn back the clock with just a few minutes of treatment time. If Radiesse sounds like the right treatment for you, contact Daines Plastic Surgery at 949-397-6499 to schedule your personal consultation with Dr. Daines today.

Procedure Details

Radiesse injections usually take just a few minutes to complete and involve little discomfort. Some patients may request a topical numbing cream prior to treatment of more sensitive areas of the face. After the injections, the treated area is gently massaged to ensure even distribution of the solution.

The most common side effects of fillers are swelling and mild bruising that can last for a few days. Adverse reactions are rare. You should schedule your treatment at least one week before a special event to make sure you reap its maximum benefit. Effects of Radiesse injections are long-lasting, typically lasting 1-2 years before another treatment is needed.
