With expert precision and an eye for natural results, double board-certified facial plastic surgeon Dr. Steven M. Daines and nurse practitioner Lindsey Watkins provide BOTOX treatments that soften wrinkles without freezing your expressions, so you still look like yourself, just more rested and youthful.

What Is BOTOX?

BOTOX is an injectable neuromodulator made from a purified form of botulinum toxin. It works by relaxing the tiny muscles responsible for repeated facial movements, such as squinting, frowning, and raising your eyebrows, that eventually cause wrinkles to form.

By temporarily limiting these movements, BOTOX smooths existing lines and helps prevent new ones from becoming etched into your skin.

BOTOX is commonly used to treat:

  • Crow’s feet at the outer corners of the eyes
  • Frown lines between the eyebrows (“11 lines”)
  • Horizontal forehead lines
  • Bunny lines at the nose

Results appear within 7 to 10 days and typically last 3 to 4 months before a touch-up treatment is needed.

BOTOX vs. Fillers: What’s the Difference?

Although BOTOX and dermal fillers like JUVÉDERM® are both injectable treatments, they work in very different ways.

  • BOTOX relaxes facial muscles to smooth dynamic wrinkles caused by expression, such as crow’s feet or forehead lines.
  • Fillers restore or enhance volume in areas where it has been lost with age, such as the cheeks, lips, and folds around the mouth. They are also used to enhance facial contours.

Think of BOTOX as smoothing the “creases” caused by muscle movement, while fillers plump and shape areas that appear flat, hollow, or sagging.

Many patients benefit from combining BOTOX and fillers, often called a “liquid facelift,” to address multiple aspects of facial aging in a single session.

How Much Does BOTOX Cost in Newport Beach?

The cost of BOTOX is typically calculated per unit; the number of units you’ll need depends on your treatment goals, facial anatomy, and the area being addressed. For example, smoothing forehead lines may require a different number of units than treating crow’s feet or frown lines.

Other factors, such as whether you combine BOTOX with dermal fillers or additional treatments, can also influence your overall cost. Because no two treatment plans are identical, Dr. Daines will provide you with a personalized quote during your consultation.

At Daines Plastic Surgery, we believe in transparent, upfront pricing. Our team will review your treatment plan in detail, explain how many units we recommend for optimal results, and answer all your cost-related questions.

Recovery & Results

One of the greatest benefits of BOTOX is the minimal downtime. Most patients return to their normal activities right away, though we recommend avoiding strenuous exercise for 24 hours. Mild redness or swelling at the injection site may occur but typically resolves within hours.

Results develop gradually and peak within 1 to 2 weeks. You’ll notice smoother, younger-looking skin that still moves naturally when you smile or laugh.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does BOTOX last?
Most patients enjoy smoother skin for 3 to 4 months after treatment. Regular maintenance sessions can help prolong your results.
Can BOTOX prevent wrinkles from forming?
Yes. By relaxing the facial muscles that cause dynamic wrinkles, BOTOX not only softens existing lines but can also prevent new ones from becoming etched into the skin over time.
Will BOTOX make me look ‘frozen’?
When performed by expert injectors like Dr. Daines or Lindsey Watkins, NP, BOTOX looks natural. You’ll still be able to smile, laugh, and express yourself, just without the deep lines and creases.
How soon will I see results after BOTOX?
You may notice early improvements within a few days, with full results visible in 1 to 2 weeks.
