How the Procedure Works
Fat grafting is a 3-step technique typically performed under twilight anesthesia for your comfort. The procedure takes about 45 to 90 minutes, depending on the number of areas being treated.
The 3 steps include:
- Fat Harvesting: Dr. Daines uses gentle liposuction to extract fat from areas such as the abdomen, thighs, or buttocks. He makes small, discreet incisions, usually beneath the belly button or on the outer thighs.
- Fat Purification: The harvested fat is processed in a centrifuge to isolate healthy, viable fat cells.
- Precise Injection: Using meticulous technique, Dr. Daines carefully injects the purified fat into targeted areas of the face where volume loss has occurred, enhancing natural contours while maintaining balance and symmetry.
Dr. Daines is careful not to overfill the areas to ensure natural results.
Recovery and Results
Most patients experience mild to moderate swelling or bruising, which usually resolves within several days. Post-procedure discomfort is minimal and can be managed with over-the-counter or oral pain medication. Light activity can resume quickly, with most patients returning to exercise within 1 week. Final results are typically visible after 1 month and can last for years.
